One level below Comprehensive Insurance is Third Party Car Insurance. This level of cover protects against any damage to a third party in an accident, if an injury occurs during the accident then this is covered by TAC or your Green Slip Insurance.
Unfortunately, Third Party Insurance won’t cover you for damage to your own car so please bear that in mind before deciding on what type of insurance policy to go for.

Make sure to weigh up the Cost
If your car is worth $24,000 & fully comprehensive car insurance is only $250 / year more expensive then it makes sense to go fully comp. However, if your car is worth $500 then you may only consider going third Party since your car isn’t worth fixing if you get into an accident.
Check if the Insurance Includes Third Party Property Damage
Some policies will include damage to property & some won’t, make sure to check if you are covered & more importantly up to what amount you’re covered for damage to third party property.
Coverage against Uninsured Drivers
Some policies will cover you if you’re involved in an accident with an uninsured driver. If they are at fault & have no insurance then policies may cover your repair costs, legal costs & towing cost.
Fire & Theft
Certain Third Party policies will also cover you against damage to your car caused by Fire or Theft of your vehicle. Make sure to check this with your insurer.
